An uplifting reply to ‘a micro’ – a poem

I shared my poem “Just a micro” on the Absolutely Poetry FB group the other day and unexpectedly got a poem as a response from a good Sir, Tony Arslan-Howson. Not only was it beautifully written, but it also conveyed a very uplifting message that makes me want to share it with other aspiring poets who struggle with self-doubts, like me. I am sharing the poem here (with permission) just maybe someone in need stumble into this writing:

Let me say why your poems
Need to be as described.
For art thou a poet,
A scribe in your own fashion
And way. And, I say,
Be a fiery dragon on a cloudy day,
And burn all your poetical text books,
Let them fuel hell!
Who cares if thousands of poems don’t bloody rhyme,
Not twice or thrice or a single time.
Instead create empathy and emotion,
Blow the socks off metered devotion.
Let your poems stand for what they are,
To turn our summers of discontent
Into winters cosy draw.
Just, I pray, enjoy writing.

All credit goes to Tony Arslan-Howson

Thank you, Tony. This means the world to me! Hope others find strength from this poem as well!
